Description

Now you can see on the ground exactly what your HD camera sees from the air – perfectly framed and delivered in 16:9 widescreen format. The picture quality is truly outstanding – rivaling HD-720P (much better than conventional analog), but without all the latency, screen freeze and range limits of digital video. With outstanding range, Iftron’s new ClearView HD Direct video system is the ideal choice for FPV piloting, remote gimbal control and spectator display. Moreover, our HD-Direct video transmitter has real time variable power that delivers a great picture with only the amount of RF power needed at any range. The result is a long range transmission that does not swamp or step on other receivers operating on nearby frequencies. This makes it ideal for use with single or multi-channel wireless video systems.

The ClearView HD Direct Video System adds only 33ms of latency when processing the input from an HD camera. When using a standard definition (SD) camera, the latency is roughly zero.

A Special Note

You may have never seen analog video this good!

  • So good that cinematographers say it easily rivals 720P
  • Full, distortion free 16:9 HD aspect ratio – just like your HD camera
  • Much longer range
  • Almost no added latency
  • The picture never freezes, tiles or suddenly drops out like digital

System Overview

Iftron’s ClearView HD-Direct Video System consists of our new 2 watt, dynamically variable power (VPS), HD-VTX video transmitter and our new ClearView 2.0 VPS receiver. Together they provide superb low-latency HD downscaling directly from an HD equipped camera while automatically varying the HD-VTX RF power level as needed as range and obstacles demand. This avoids interfering with adjacent receivers when the VTX transmitter is at close range – all in a very compact, powerful and lightweight system. On the ground, the ClearView 2.0 VPS video receiver (the industry’s most sensitive and most highly advanced noise reducing, latency free SD video receiver) receives video and simultaneously sends real time remote commands to our HD-VTX. The HD-VTX also has a remotely controlled video switch for a second, standard definition camera. When switched remotely,  video signal from the second camera will have zero latency.

Remote Control Capabilities*

  1. Automatic real-time, continuous adjustment of the HD-VTX RF output power from an amazing 2 watts to only 5 milliwatts. This allows the signal reaching the ClearView VPS receiver to be maintained at the lowest level that provides a clear picture regardless of range or obstacles. This technology allows multiple ClearView systems to operate together without the fear of swamping adjacent channels.
  2. Real time HD-VTX frequency changes are instantly synchronized. Change the frequency on the ClearView VPS receiver to sidestep noise or interference and the HD-VTX instantly follows.
  3. Instant remote video format changes (NTSC / PAL / Auto)
  4. Instant second SD camera switched by remote command.
  5. Can generate several additional two to four state S-Bus control channels beyond those available from the RC system for use by channel starved remote control systems. Consult Iftron for details.

* Using the supplied cable, you can also field program the HD-VTX for static operation of any of its remote controlled features.

An Improved Video Downlink

Our exclusive ClearView receiver technology cleans up most wireless issues like excess noise, multipathing, and antenna fade; and provides vastly improved range and stability – while our new dynamically Variable Power System insures that you get maximized performance at any range without interfering with other nearby receivers. Dynamically variable transmitting power means that the ClearView HD-VTX is continuously commanded to adjust its RF energy output from an amazing 2 Watts to as low as 5 milliwatts in response to range and radio blocking objects. This means that you never transmit more power than is needed to get a clear picture from a very long range – to flight behind buildings and obstacles – to landing at your feet. The result is that you get the best possible performance and the freedom to use multiple ClearView VPS systems without the video transmitters stepping on other receiver’s signals.

How It Works

Plugged into your existing remote control transmitter/receiver with S-Bus capability, the ClearView HD Direct Video System creates a closed loop for complete control of the HD-VTX from the ClearView video receiver. The HD-VTX monitors your R/C receiver’s S-Bus, watching for commands from the ground that control dynamic transmitter power, transmit frequency, video mode and commands that switch video sources. On the ground, the ClearView video receiver sends remote commands by cable to your R/C transmitter buddy (trainer) port. (Consult Iftron for other control protocols). Here’s what happens if your transmitter goes behind an obstacle and the receiver needs a stronger signal to provide a clear picture. The ClearView receiver uses your R/C S-Bus to tell your video transmitter to increase transmit power until the received power is adequate. This command is sent many times per second so you don’t miss anything. Conversely, when the HD-VTX is brought into close range of the ClearView receiver, the power is smoothly reduced until it is just a few milliwatts as you land at your feet so you don’t step on other receivers operating on other channels nearby. Change the video receiver channel, video mode, of video source at the ClearView video receiver and the HD-VTX transmitter instantly follows.

Ultra-Compact Size with Very Low Weight

CV HD Direct

As powerful as our feature-rich ClearView HD-VTX it is remarkably small and light:

  • Weight: 1.1 oz. (29g)
  • Size: 1.2” x 2.1” x 0.75” (30 x 52 x 16 mm) exclusive of antenna.

Recommended Directional Antennas

Optional 13,5dBi Directional with 140 Degrees of Reception

While any quality antenna will do, we highly recommend purchasing this upgraded antenna package. These directional receiver antennas feature a gain of 13.5 dBi with an astonishing 140 degree FOV. Therefore, very little if any aiming may be required. The transmitter antenna is a matching circularly polarized (RHCP) omni antenna with a semi-rigid short stem. Consult Iftron if a long stem omni antenna is desired.
