Customer Questions

  • What does the red jumper do?

This jumper tells the module if it is installed into HD3 or HDO goggles. HD3 and earlier goggles require a power cable to be routed to the headtracking bay to utilize the power from both bays.

  • What antennas should I use?

This depends on the drone/airplane antenna and the environment. If you are using a polorized antenna on the drone, you should use a matching polorization antenna on the reciever. Whether you go with Omni or patch antennas will depend on how you want to fly that day. To get maximum performance out of your reciever, the antennas should be matching. 2 Omni or 2 Patch antennas.

  • What is the best frequency to use?

This will depend on the environment, and other drones/airplanes in the area. The best channel is going to be the quietest channel.

  • How do I change channels?

The channel buttons are on the top of the FatShark goggles. In the ClearView menu system pick the band you want, and the channel buttons will rotate through channels 1 through 8.

  • The fan doesn’t seem to be running. Is something wrong?

The fan is designed to start up for 1 sec at power on. The fan is then only used when needed. RF modules run best at certain temperature range, and we have designed a temperature controlled fan that optimizes internal module temperature.

  • My screen keeps rolling even in the menu.

Ensure you have the matching NTSC/PAL settings for your camera, receiver and monitor/goggles.

  • How often is the software updated?

We update software as needed through feedback from the community and issues we find in our lab.

  • What battery size should I use to power the goggles/module?

We recommend flying at 2s in order to not over-tax the goggles power supply.
